Activities

LRMNet carry out activities which complement and build the capability of mosques and help them meet the needs of the communities in which they are situated in and their congregations across the Liverpool region. We meet 3 times a year when we invite mosque committee members and imams to share ideas and address common issues.

At these meetings we may invite civic leaders to discuss important topics. For instance, we invited the Metro Mayor Steve Rotherham to explain his role to us and how we could support his office. In addition, we help to promote opportunities and training workshops which build the capability of mosques in aspects of upskilling staff and volunteers; making trustees aware of their governance responsibilities; and advertising vacancies within mosques. Finally, we act as a link between statutory, private, voluntary and faith sector organisations wishing to connect with the Muslim community to enhance the contribution and wellbeing of the Muslim community to mainstream civic life.

At present, our flagship activity, organised with support of all mosques and under wider range of partners, is the annual Taste Ramadan event which is a public iftar (breakfast meal) held during the Islamic Holy month of Ramadan.
